The Pharaohs in the world cup: Fixtures, Squad, Group and Broadcast Channels

Egypt men's handball national team is ready to compete in the Handball World Cup 2023 that is held in Sweden and Poland from January 11th till the 29th of the same month. After achieving the seventh place in the last World Cup that Egypt was hosting in 2021 and ending Tokyo Olympics in fourth place, Egypt team fans are hoping to see the Pharaohs in a higher place in this tournament.


This time the Pharaohs are in group G beside each of Croatia, Morocco and USA national teams.


Egypt will begin its journey in the tournament by the toughest game in the group, by facing Croatia. "Croatia team has often been portrayed as a force in handball", they've won the World Cup championship once before, moreover, they've won two Olympic games gold medals. However, they weren't lucky in the Euro championship after losing three finals.


Despite that, Egypt team also is considered as a force in the Handball World, Egypt has 16 world cup appearances, among these appearances the best achievement they've done is ending 2001 World Cup in fourth place. The Pharaohs team is one of the finest African handball teams, they've won the African championship 8 times and the silver medal of the championship 6 times.


Egypt team fixtures:

Croatia vs Egypt: Friday, January 13th (2:30 PM-EST and 9:30 PM EEST)

Egypt vs Morocco: Sunday, January 15th (2:00 PM-EST and 7:00 PM EEST)

Egypt vs USA: Tuesday, January 17th (2:00 PM-EST and 7:00 Pm EEST).

Participate in the championship, and it comes as follow:

Mohammed Sanad, Akram Yousry.

Mohsen Ramadan, Mohab Saeed.

Yehia Al-Deraa, Ahmed Hesham “Dodo”, Seif Al-Deraa.

Mohammed Mamdouh Hashem, Ibrahim Al-Masry, Ahmed Adel, Shadi Khalil.


However, Yehya Khaled Egypt and Vezprem’s right back, who was named in the team of the tournament in Tokyo Olympics will miss the World Cup after suffering from knee ligament injury. Also, Egypt team captain Ahmed Al-Ahmar won’t be with the Egyptian team this time after he retired playing with the national team after winning his last title with the team, the African championship title.
